This months vegetable of the month is, Beets! From golden to red, the variety of beets and colors vary in ways you may have never though they could! So many different ways to cook and incorporate this healthy colorful vegetable into your meals. For example, simply juice it to make a delicious drink to start your day. Some people even slice beets in french fries and deep fry it for a crunchy bite. However the most popular way to use this vibrant vegetable, is in a salad. Pairing beets with ingredients like sour cream bases or a vinaigrette and oil dressing is very popular in restaurants found all over.
How to Cook
When cooking with beets, make sure to always wear gloves! Unless your hands will become stained from the color pigment off of the beets. A simple easy way to get started with cooking beets, is to put them in a deep pan and wrap it with tin foil and leave in the oven to roast. Once finished, with gloves and a paper towel, you are now able to remove the skin from the beets and using the vegetable to your liking.
