Braised Red Cabbage with Apples

This next dish pairs great with pork chops for dinner. It’s so easy to make & the flavor is endless. I think people are just scared to try new vegetables or go out of the box. Personally i find this dish quicker to make than most. However the thought of vinegar in a dish pushes anyone away. Try something new, I know you won’t regret this one!

What you’ll need…


  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 Gala or Fuji apple
  • 1 head red cabbage (2 pounds), cored, quartered, and thinly sliced
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Ground pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
